Steve Jobs

I know he's all over the news and blogs today, but since he is one of my heroes, I decided to write a little bit about my admiration for such an amazing man. I know he's surrounded by controversy-about stealing ideas, being fired from his own company, paternity issues, etc. But there's no doubt that he lived an extraordinary life and lived life to the fullest. If you haven't watched his commencement speech to Stanford, you really should (It might be on YouTube). I watched the video on TED one day when I was feeling hopeless and lost as I always do some nights. I was watching random TED videos because my professor told us to watch some quorum sensing video on there, but of course I got bored and went on to watch other videos. I stumbled on Steve Jobs' speech, not expecting too much from it other than the usual "Let's live life to the fullest blah blah blah" that usually encompasses these types of things. Well, I was wrong. Way wrong. He gave an amazing speech, one that made me think and ponder about my own life. I know this probably sounds really lame, but he really spoke honestly about living life to the fullest by doing what you really want to do. It wasn't easy making a company. He dropped out of college since it cost too much. With nowhere to live, he relied on friends' floors and getting a nickel back from cans for food. His life wasn't without hardship-he actually worked hard to make Apple the number one company in the world. His story is an inspiration to us all, and may he rest in peace. Steve Jobs, you were truly an amazing person, and you will be dearly missed.
