My love of co-ops

An interesting read:

I have spent the past 2 years living in a co-op that I fell in love with. Vegan House is what I call it affectionately. Yes, people have (and still) made fun of me for living in a "hipster" place where meat is forbidden. Yes, I did try going vegan + vegetarian at some point. And no, it didn't last very long...a month maybe?
The above picture is my house. I love it. I love the tiny plants growing in our garden, the benches on the porch, our welcoming front door that I must have opened a million times by now.
Yes, co-op living has disadvantages. I know I have complained countless times about the state of our commercial-sized kitchen, the lack of meat, the presence of lentils and beans....
But overall, it's been a wonderful experience. It's what made my college experience so enjoyable.
I am moving out next week. I have lived in 3 different rooms here. I miss Lena.
I will always know this place as home. It's not the same anymore-too many people have left now, and the new residents are strangers to me. I just miss everyone too much, and the experience is no longer the same. I miss and miss and realize that it's time to move on. I still don't know if I am graduating this semester, but I know it's time I move back to apartment-living.
This is the place that inspired me, that made me more open to new experiences. I'm still shy, afflicted with social anxiety disorder, but suddenly I'm more comfortable with human interaction.
I will miss you.
